TOOMEY & 60CC HUB CANNULA
Toomey and 60cc hub cannula are medical instruments used in various procedures, such as thoracentesis and paracentesis, to remove excess fluid from the pleural or peritoneal cavity, respectively.
The Toomey cannula is a tapered metal tube with a sharp point at one end and a female Luer-lock connector at the other end. It is designed to penetrate the skin and underlying tissues and enter a body cavity, where it is connected to a vacuum source. The tapered design allows for easier insertion into the body and reduced trauma to surrounding tissues.
The 60cc hub cannula, also known as a large-bore cannula, is a tube with a large diameter and a hub that can hold up to 60cc of fluid. It is used in conjunction with the Toomey cannula to provide a conduit for the fluid to exit the body cavity and into a collection bag or container.
Together, the Toomey and 60cc hub cannula are commonly used in procedures such as thoracentesis to remove excess pleural fluid from around the lungs or paracentesis to remove excess fluid from the peritoneal cavity. These procedures can help relieve symptoms and improve the overall condition of the patient.
